4 Temple Row proves top location for De La Crèm

A young café owner, Asim Imdad, is following in the footsteps of his elder brother and Great British Bake-off participant, Ali Imdad, who runs Cocoa by Ali at the Mailbox, to open his first outlet on 6-8 Temple Row in Birmingham.

De La Crèm has taken a five-year lease on Nurton Developments’ 4 Temple Row building as part of the retail offering on the well situated, mixed-use, seven storey office block.

Asim Imdad, 24, who is born and bred in Birmingham has high aspirations for the new outlet despite opening during lockdown.

Asim Imdad said: “To be honest I’ve been surprised, we’ve been performing quite well even though we’re in a lockdown as we’re on a main walkway through the Central Business District, with a metro stop outside, so for those still venturing out for essential travel or business, they’re still dropping in and seeing what’s new.

“We’re hoping to start deliveries soon too, so both the office and residential community within the city can benefit from our new offering, which is a little bit different providing a range of food from a Calcutta Chicken Burger to a Chocolate Lava Cake Dome.”

Rupert Young asset manager for Nurton Developments added: “We’re always pleased to be nurturing young businesses and particularly post pandemic, it’s reassuring to see new talent determined to still make a go of it.

“Temple Row is a strong location due to its high football and accessibility and De La Crèm compliments well the wide range of amenities on its doorstep.”

Located immediately adjacent to the Bull Street Metro Station, Temple Row is at the centre of Birmingham's professional and financial core with adjacent occupiers including Barclays, KPMG and RBS.

The building was refurbished throughout in recent years to include all the communal areas with the addition of shower facilities and bike racks to cater to a growing number of people exercising during lunchtimes and running or cycling to work.

CBRE and JLL act as joint agents on the scheme.
