This proposed sustainable urban extension will be an exemplar scheme including family housing, new schools, medical facilities and provision for the elderly, as well as significant areas of playing fields and public open space. Nurton entered into a promotion agreement with a Charitable Trust in 2013 and was instrumental in forming a development consortium to promote the 50-acre Green Belt site. Identified by Birmingham City Council as suitable to deliver significant numbers of new homes for the city, it was released from the Green Belt and allocated for development in the Birmingham plan. An outline planning application is being prepared, and negotiations are in hand to dispose of the interest to a major house-builder on the granting of outline planning.
